Leadership

Pastor
Matthew Wigton has been the pastor of the First Baptist Church of Rockport since 2009. He is a native of Worthington, Ohio. Previous to serving in Rockport, he was the Youth Ministry leader at the Cape Neddick Baptist Church in York, Maine.  He has been married to Megan Wigton since 2008 and they reside in Rockport. He has a B.S. from The Ohio State University and a Master of Divinity from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.

He is ordained in the American Baptist Churches U.S.A. and is a member of the National Association of Evangelicals. He serves on the Executive Board of the Adoniram Judson Association and is an active member of the Rockport Rotary Club.


Music Director
Ruth Bowers is the Music Director at the First Baptist Church of Rockport. She is a native of North Carolina.  She has been at the church since 2002. Ruth has been playing the organ and leading various church bell and vocal choirs for over fifty years.  Ruth has a B.A. from Furman University, a Master of Information Systems from Northeastern University and a Master of Sacred Music from Union Theological Seminary.


Youth Group Leader
Megan Wigton is a native of Juneau, Alaska. She holds a B.A. from Bethany University, a Master of Arts from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and is currently pursuing a M.Ed. from Salem State University. She is also works as Salem State University as a transition Support Specialist.

Pastoral Apprentice
Thompson (Tom) Paisley is currently serving as the Pastoral Apprentice. A native of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio Tom is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.  He is a graduate of Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois and was married to Fiona in 2012.

God’s Family Assistant
Fiona Paisley is currently serving as the God’s Family Assistant. She is a native of Seven Hills, Ohio.  She also graduated from Moody Bible Institute and is currently pursuing a Master of Old Testament at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.

Chariman of the Board of Deacons and Worship Leader
James Koerth has been an active member of First Baptist Church since 1982. A native of western Pennsylvania, Jim graduated from Westminster College and attended Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. Formally Jim served on the Rockport Fire Department and as an EMT. He is presently involved in numerous musical group around Cape Ann including the Cape Ann Big Band, Gordon College Orchestra,Rockport Legion Band and Lighthouse Brass. He is also an active member in the Cape Astronomy Club.  He is married to Karen and has three adult children.
