Matt Wigton has been the pastor of The First Baptist Church of Rockport since 2009. He holds a B.A. from The Ohio State University and an M.Div from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. He is ordained in The American Baptist Churches of Massachusetts and is a member of the National Association of Evangelicals. He is married to Megan and they have a son named Alistair, a daughter named Ainsley and a beagle named Maggie. He served as an elected member of the Rockport Housing Authority from 2013-2018 and is a Vice-President of the Northern Baptist Education Society. He is also a Paul Harris Fellow and active member in the Rotary Club of Rockport. He has a passion for church revitalization in New England.
Minister of Youth and Family:
Maureen Small was born and raised in Billerica Massachusetts. She holds a B.A. from Lowell University (now UMASS Lowell) in English and Elementary Education. She has worked in the computer software industry for 33+ years in technical support, quality assurance testing, software training, and technical writing. She recently retired as the Senior Technical Writer/Documentation Specialist for the H&R Block Tax Software DIY division. She and her husband Mark currently reside in Gloucester, Massachusetts. Together they have one son, Geoffrey, who is married to their daughter-in-law Kyla and one grandchild, Maela with a grandson on the way.
Katie Favaloro has served in several capacities at the church since 2014. She is a Rockport native and 2016 graduate of Rockport High School. She currently attends the University of Southern Maine with her dog Tray. She is a member of the Rockport Fire Department.
Laurie Tuck is a native of Cranston, Rhode Island and holds a B.A. from Skidmore College and a M.A. from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. She has been active in youth, music and camping ministry for many years and served as a teacher in Rockport Public Schools. She is currently also the manager at Tuck’s Candy and Gifts, one of Rockport’s oldest stores. She and her husband live in Rockport and have two adult children.
Christian Faux was born in New Jersey, grew up in Southwest Florida, and has returned to the North in pursuit of his Masters of Divinity at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. He earned his B.A. of English at Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida. He has grown up in a variety of Christian Church backgrounds, from Lutheran, to Methodist, to Presbyterian, Catholic and Eastern Orthodox and Assemblies of God schools, and now settling into First Baptist of Rockport.
